Fred Deltor (1899-1969), ‘Jeu de Massacre’

In 1930, Italian/Dutch artist Fred Deltor (pseudonym of Federico Antonio Carasso) published his print portfolio Jeu de Massacre: 12 personages a la recherché d’une. It contained twelve pochoir prints, all of which were meant to warn the masses of the dangers of fascism. The twelve figures represent “parasites of modern society”: militarism, ownership, philanthropy, social democracy, justice, colonization, fascism, spying, parliamentarism, bourgeois life, religion and patriotism.
